When we are communicating through electronic social media, we often take shortcuts, ignoring the conventions of writing such as capitals and punctuation and using acronyms (the first letter of each word) such as OMG.
Do you think this form of writing can interfere with meaning? Does it still express your thoughts? Recently, I received some social media communication which included these acronyms:

I didn't know what they meant and so the effectiveness of this communication was greatly reduced.

I don't think that writing things like omg will interfere with the meaning if you are texting and on the computer using face book or msn but i don't think it should be used it writing in school. I do not know what most of these acronyms so it is hard to understand people when they use these words. But it is a faster way of saying something so lots of people use it. It does not express my feelings because I can't even understand these acronyms. I think imho means I made a house oven and I think TIFN means toes icky find nail clippers.

i think it's okay to write when your using social media through computer because were not in school or its not really important at that time. I find it a lot easier because your just talking but if you actually write in full sentences it will help your learning and always remembering to write in full sentences.

Yes, somtimes people do not know the shorthand words but,sometimes,people do know what they mean, and therfore it is helpful because it is an easier way to say something that would have been really long. for example "oh my gosh, is that really true" could be "OMG!that true?" Also, i do think shorthand can express some thoughts, because some thoughts really should be expressed in proper sentences.

1=yesterday I went to gravel island and to play there.

I don't think this interferes with the meaning because it's just shortened because a lot of people don't feel like typing much because sometimes it would over fill the chatbox with words. It still expresses your thoughts because if the other person knows what it means your still expressing.

I went to the states on sat and there was radiation in the milk, probably from the purple cows. I got new high tops, we went to a casino place and the washroom was the only place people were not smoking, but a women came in and just started smoking. There were a lot of gambler putting money in non-stop.

non-shortcut way of my spring break
In spring break, I went skiing at willamete Mountain to go skiing and snowboarding. My brother had lots of trouble it was kind of funny. But he gradually got better. The first day we went skiing and we enjoyed it alot. The second day we went snowboarding and my friend and I was stuck up he mountain for 30 minutes, so its much more harder. The last day we went skiing and we skied down from the middle of the mountain. We had lots of fun.
